The IEEE‐SA P2020 working group on automotive imaging standards was established in 2016 to address the considerable ambiguity in the measurement of image quality of automotive imaging systems, both human and computer vision-based. Imatest experts have been directly involved in this standard from the beginning, designing, writing, and validating many of the metrics throughout the development process.

The IEEE 2020-2024 standard plays a critical role in establishing requirements and objective tests for automotive viewing and automotive computer vision applications.

The IEEE P2020 working group has connected people in the field, identified gaps in existing standards, and addressing these by creating a coherent set of key performance indicators by which camera systems and components may be evaluated in a manner consistent with their intended use.

IEEE 2020-2024 Key Performance Indicators

  1. Flare
  2. Geometric calibration validation
  3. Noise
  4. Dynamic Range
  5. Spatial frequency response (SFR)
  6. Flicker
  7. Contrast performance indicators

You can purchase the IEEE 2020-2024 Standard from IEEE.

Many of Imatest’s existing tools relate to IEEE 2020-2024 metrics. Imatest will be updating its software, test charts, and hardware to comply with IEEE 2020-2024.
